Classification
Summary
Processes wire through bending, cutting, forming, surface treatment, and other steps to produce products used in automotive parts, building materials, household goods, and more.
Description
Wire products manufacturing workers use metal wire as raw material and perform processes such as bending, cutting, braiding, welding, polishing, and plating using dedicated machines or manual labor to finish products to specified shapes and dimensions. They set processing conditions using drawings or jigs and operate production lines or machine tools. Finished products are quality-controlled through dimensional measurement and appearance inspection, and when defects occur, causes are identified and countermeasures are implemented. Safety and health management and equipment maintenance are also included in the duties.
Future Outlook
Although advances in automation and robotization will mechanize some simple tasks, demand persists for manual work and advanced skills geared toward high-precision, multi-variety small-lot production. Stable job opportunities are expected from updating aging equipment and adapting to new materials.
