They measure and manage temperature, pH, sugar content, etc., control yeast and microorganisms, manage sanitation, and perform sensory evaluation (tasting) to maintain quality. They also operate and maintain equipment, manage records, and comply with laws and regulations. With accumulated skills and experience, career paths to chief winemaker, etc., open up.

Due to the expansion of the wine market and growing interest in craft wines, demand for specialized technicians remains stable. Responses to climate change and development of sustainable brewing technologies are required.
