Description
Veneer sorters inspect and classify veneer after veneer processing, which is the pre-process of the plywood manufacturing line. On the inspection table, using visual checks, calipers, moisture meters, etc., they check veneer for thickness, moisture content, wood grain, cracks, knots, discoloration, and other defects, and sort according to specified grades. After sorting, they stack by grade and supply to the next gluing process. They maintain stable product quality according to quality standards and work procedures. Mainly manual labor, but may also operate automatic inspection machines.
Future Outlook
Demand for plywood as a building material is stable, and while automation and mechanization of quality control progresses, skill succession from skilled workers is a challenge.
