Description
Tsuiki artisans shape vessels such as tea utensils, flower vases, and decorative items by hand-hammering metal sheets like copper or brass without using hammers or molds. They repeatedly anneal (soften) and cool the metal to thin it evenly while creating complex curved surfaces and patterns. Based on design drawings, they fine-tune sheet thickness and hammering force, and finally polish and finish the product to complete it.
