Description

Transmission line workers handle stringing, tensioning, insulator replacement, connection, and tension adjustment of wires on transmission towers and overhead lines. Before work, they prepare equipment and tools, check safety harnesses, cranes, hoists, etc., and set up scaffolds and grounding. Working in teams, they coordinate crane operations and rope work to safely perform tasks at heights. They also promptly repair any degradation or damage found during regular inspections and handle restoration work during planned outages including blackout operations.

Future Outlook

With the spread of renewable energy and the need to update aging transmission networks, stable job openings are expected. Shortage of high-place and extra-high voltage workers is an issue, increasing the importance of training and safety education.
