Classification
Summary
Specialized worker who excavates tunnels, operates blasting and excavation machinery in tin mines, and mines and transports tin ore.
Description
Tin miners conduct geological surveys of tin veins, excavate tunnels, and mine tin ore using blasting, drills, shovels, etc. After mining, the ore is transported to the concentrator using belt conveyors or trolleys. Duties also include safety management in the mine, installation and inspection of supports, and machinery maintenance. Due to harsh working environments with high temperatures, humidity, and dust, knowledge of safety and health and sufficient physical strength are required.
Future Outlook
Although domestic tin mines are on a declining trend, demand for personnel with specialized skills is expected to be maintained to a certain extent due to overseas resource development needs and the aging of mine technicians. The introduction of automation and remote operation technologies is expected to improve safety and efficiency.
