Classification

Summary

Technical job involving installation, wiring, testing, maintenance inspections, and fault response for telephone equipment, switchboards (PBX), and other communication equipment in companies and offices.

Description

Telephone Equipment Installation and Maintenance Workers install and wire communication equipment such as telephones and PBX at customer sites like offices and factories, and conduct operation tests and adjustments. They also perform regular maintenance inspections and diagnose/repair faults to support stable operation of the communication environment. On-site, they determine equipment installation positions based on design drawings and wiring diagrams, perform cable laying and connection work, and are required to conduct line tests and signal quality checks using measuring instruments such as testers. In recent years, with the introduction of IP phones and VoIP equipment, LAN wiring and network equipment configuration are also included in the scope of work. Since there is physical strain from work at heights and transporting heavy equipment, safety management and teamwork are important.

Future Outlook

With the cloudization and IP-ization of in-house communication equipment, there is demand for migration work from conventional analog equipment to IP equipment and network knowledge. Demand will be maintained to a certain extent to ensure the reliability of communication infrastructure, but skill transition will be important with technological advancements.
