Description

Synthetic fiber manufacturing engineers are responsible for the entire process of producing synthetic fibers such as polyester, nylon, and acrylic. They set polymerization conditions for raw monomers, operate equipment for melt spinning or wet spinning, optimize drawing and orientation, and post-processing (finishing), ensuring fiber quality such as strength, elongation, and uniformity. Key tasks also include managing manufacturing conditions and equipment parameters, analysis through physical property tests (tensile testing, viscosity measurement, infrared spectroscopy, etc.), cause investigation and countermeasure planning during troubles. Compliance with safety and environmental regulations, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with other departments are also required.

With the high functionalization of the apparel market and expanding demand for environmentally friendly fibers, the need for new materials, recycled fibers, and bio-based polymer developers and manufacturing engineers is expected to increase.
