As needed, manual scraping is applied, and flatness and parallelism are measured and inspected using micrometers, dial gauges, autocollimators, etc. Surface plates are essential as reference surfaces for inspecting machine parts and machining processes, and no minute errors are allowed. Therefore, the work environment is often clean with temperature control, requiring workers to have high concentration and accuracy.
