Sound Effects Technician is a job that handles sound materials to enhance directorial effects in productions such as movies, TV, commercials, games, and stage performances. In addition to selecting and editing the optimal sounds from pre-recorded sound effects libraries, field recording is conducted on site as needed. Using DAW or audio editing software, timing adjustments, sound quality corrections, and mixing are performed, collaborating with the direction team and sound directors to provide the optimal sound design for the work. In live performances, sound effects may also be operated in real-time according to the direction.
Future Outlook
With the expansion of video content and game markets, demand for sound effects is steadily increasing. Demand for sound design in new media such as VR/AR is also expected to rise.
