Description
Farriers observe and evaluate the shape and condition of horses' hooves, properly trim them, and fabricate and fit horseshoes. They perform casting or forging for horseshoe production, heating and bending iron, and trimming (shoeing) work to reduce walking imbalance and leg strain. Also important are preventing and improving hoof diseases, adjustments during training or before competitions, and collaboration with veterinarians and trainers. Often, they visit riding clubs or farms for on-site work, requiring physical strength and accuracy.
