Summary

Manufacturing technician who mixes raw materials for glazes, applies glaze to the surfaces of pottery, porcelain, tiles, etc., and fires them in a kiln. Quality control and optimization of firing conditions are important.

Description

Firing Worker (Glaze Production) is a job that handles everything from glaze raw material formulation and mixing, application, kiln firing, to quality inspection. Calculates and adjusts mixing ratios based on the chemical composition of raw materials and selects application methods. Operates firing furnaces such as electric or gas kilns, controls temperature and atmosphere to achieve the desired surface properties (gloss, color tone, water resistance, etc.). After firing, inspects products and analyzes defect causes. Improves formulations and firing conditions to achieve stable production. Involves work in high-temperature factory environments as well as physically demanding tasks such as transporting heavy raw materials and removing products from kilns.

Future Outlook

While demand for porcelain and ceramic products remains stable, there is potential for increased demand for advanced technicians due to automation and the development of high-performance materials. In the future, adaptation to energy-saving kilns and digital control technologies will be required.
