Ship outfitting workers are specialists who assemble and install equipment such as piping, valves, propeller shafts, and deck machinery inside the hull and on the deck based on drawings, and adjust and inspect them to ensure mechanically and fluidly correct operation. They mainly handle heavy objects using cranes and slings, securing them by welding or bolting. After completion, they perform leak tests and mechanical trial runs to ensure quality and safety. They work in shipyards or repair docks, handling a wide range from processing steel and stainless steel parts to installation.
