Description

Ship operation crew handle comprehensive voyage management from creating route plans using nautical charts and electronic chart systems to departure and arrival. They perform steering and propulsion management, VHF radio communication, collection and analysis of weather and sea condition information, monitoring and vigilance during navigation, and achieve safe navigation in compliance with laws and international conventions. In emergencies, they handle life jacket deployment, water spraying, rescue operations, and more to ensure the safety of crew and cargo. For long voyages or international routes, English communication and collaboration with multinational crews are also required.

Future Outlook

Due to declining birthrates and crew shortages, demand for personnel remains high. With advances in automation and digitalization, proficiency in ECDIS and autonomous navigation technologies is required. Strengthening environmental regulations is increasing the importance of knowledge in fuel saving and exhaust gas purification operations.
