Classification

Summary

A technical role that designs, operates, manages, and improves mineral processing processes to recover and concentrate valuable minerals from ore.

Description

Ore dressing engineers process raw ore obtained from mines or ore deposits, designing, operating, managing, and improving processes to efficiently separate and concentrate valuable minerals. They combine unit operations such as crushing and classification, flotation, magnetic separation, and heavy liquid separation, and conduct test runs on pilot ores. Based on the obtained data, they analyze mass balances and recovery rates, and perform plant design, equipment selection, and optimization of operating conditions. They also engage in troubleshooting, proposals for energy saving, and periodic maintenance planning while complying with safety, health, and environmental regulations. In addition to in-house technical departments, they are expected to work as consultants or on overseas projects.

Future Outlook

Stable demand is expected due to increasing needs for resource development and waste recycling. In the future, energy-saving and automation technologies, as well as compliance with environmental regulations, will be required.
