Semiconductor Material Refiner (Polycrystalline Silicon, etc.)
はんどうたいざいりょうせいれんこう
Industry & Occupation
Classification
Summary
A manufacturing technical position that purifies polycrystalline silicon and others to high purity and supplies raw materials for semiconductor wafer manufacturing. Operates chemical reaction equipment and high-temperature furnaces, handling everything from raw material preparation to quality control.
Description
Semiconductor material refiners purify raw materials such as polycrystalline silicon using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) equipment and high-temperature furnaces to produce raw materials for semiconductor wafers. They manage processes and control temperature and pressure while performing impurity measurements using analytical instruments such as ICP and GD-MS. In a cleanroom environment, they follow work procedures, perform equipment maintenance inspections, and troubleshoot. They are required to ensure quality based on manufacturing records and stably supply materials that meet product specifications.
Future Outlook
With the expansion of the semiconductor market, demand for polycrystalline silicon is also increasing. As technological developments for higher purity and larger diameters, automation, and labor reduction progress, the demand for personnel skilled in process optimization and environmental load reduction technologies will increase.
