Description
Self-Defense Force military police officers are military police personnel responsible for maintaining security and establishing law and order inside and outside Self-Defense Force units. Based on the Self-Defense Forces Law and Code of Criminal Procedure, they conduct criminal investigations, evidence preservation, arrests and interrogations, traffic regulations, and respond to personnel disciplinary violations and criminal cases. They also handle security at barracks and bases, guarding of important facilities, and public order maintenance during disaster dispatches. They undergo shooting training, arrest techniques, and investigation method training, and handle pistols and rifles. They may also perform international military police activities during overseas deployments and international peace cooperation operations. Rigorous physical training, acquisition of legal knowledge, teamwork, and quick decision-making in emergencies are required.
