Classification
Summary
A profession that uses multi-beam looms or shuttleless looms to manufacture high-grade fabrics with satin weave (satin weave).
Description
Satin weavers are specialists who manufacture satin weave (shushiori) fabrics based on satin structures. They set raw material silk yarn or synthetic fiber yarn on the loom and make fine adjustments to the weaving width and density. While performing regular maintenance inspections of the machinery and removing defective yarn, they produce high-luster, smooth fabrics. In addition to operating mass-production machinery, they also handle small-lot production and pattern matching, and are involved in quality control and process improvement. By utilizing both traditional techniques and the latest machinery technology, they provide high value-added materials for apparel and interiors.
Future Outlook
The domestic textile industry is in a shrinking trend due to shifts to overseas production, but demand in high value-added materials and traditional crafts sectors is stable. There is a need for personnel who can balance technology inheritance with new material development.
