Description

A Rokkyoku performer is a performer of narrative arts originating from the Edo period called Rokkyoku. Basically accompanied by shamisen, they narrate diverse themes such as historical stories, contemporary tales, and ghost stories with rich intonation. They perform at yose theaters, playhouses, event venues, and sometimes appear on television or radio. In recent years, to preserve traditional arts and expand the fan base, they are focusing on workshops, school performances, and dissemination via SNS.
