Classification

Summary

Industrial job manufacturing rockwool (rock wool). Centrifugally spins raw materials melted at high temperature and processes them into products such as insulation materials, soundproofing materials, and sound-absorbing materials.

Description

Rockwool manufacturing workers melt raw materials such as basalt and ironmaking slag at high temperatures, fiberize them using centrifugal spinning devices, then spray binders and additives to form and cure them through a series of processes. The products are used as insulation and sound-absorbing materials in walls, roofs, and ceilings of houses and buildings. Work involves diverse tasks including monitoring high-temperature furnaces, operating spinning devices, managing weighing and forming lines, finishing processes, quality inspections, cutting and packaging. Equipment maintenance and safety and health management are also important duties. Much of the work is done in high-temperature and dusty environments, requiring teamwork and compliance with regulations.

Future Outlook

Demand for insulation materials will remain stable due to strengthened energy-saving and environmental regulations. Advances in automation and process efficiency technologies will require expanded skills in equipment maintenance and process management.
