Industry & Occupation

Engineering & Manufacturing

Classification

Summary

A technical role that achieves both product quality and mass productivity through the design and analysis of resin molds for injection molding. Utilizes CAD and CAE to optimize mold structures and molding conditions.

Description

Resin mold designers are specialists who design molds used for mass production of resin molded products. Based on customer requirements, product shapes, and resin properties, they perform detailed designs of mold parts (core, cavity, gate, runner, cooling circuits, etc.) using CAD. They investigate optimal molding conditions through flow analysis and strength analysis using CAE, and carry out designs that consider quality and productivity. They create design drawings and collaborate with mold manufacturers and molding sites through repeated prototyping, evaluation, and improvement to aim for the completion of mass-production molds.

Future Outlook

Demand for resin parts is expanding in fields such as automobiles, home appliances, and medical devices, and the demand for mold design engineers who balance precision and productivity is expected to remain stable. With the evolution of CAE and digital tools, the market value of individuals with advanced analysis skills is increasing.
