Summary

Reciprocating compressor operators operate and monitor reciprocating compressors in plant facilities to compress gas or air to specified pressures. They maintain stable equipment operation through daily inspections, maintenance, and abnormality responses.

Description

Reciprocating compressor operators handle reciprocating compressors (reciprocating compressors) installed in steel mills, chemical plants, gas plants, and similar facilities, compressing gas or air under specified pressure conditions. They perform pre-operation inspections, lubricant management, pressure and temperature monitoring, valve adjustments, and creation of operation records. They also handle cause analysis and initial responses to abnormal vibrations or unusual noises, implementation of operation and shutdown procedures in accordance with safety standards. They engage in a wide range of tasks, including regular maintenance, support for large-scale inspections in collaboration with the maintenance department, and preparation and submission of statutory inspection documents.

Future Outlook

Even as plant automation and IoT advance, human resources are still needed for equipment maintenance inspections and anomaly responses, so demand for specialized operation technicians remains stable. In the future, acquisition of remote monitoring and AI-based predictive maintenance technologies may be required.
