Industry & Occupation

Engineering & Manufacturing

Classification

Summary

Manufacturing operator who adjusts pulp used as raw material for chemical fibers such as rayon, subjects it to chemical processing and bleaching, and supplies it to the manufacturing process.

Description

Pulp preparation workers receive wood pulp as raw material for chemical fibers, weigh and blend it, subject it to chemical processing and bleaching to prepare it in slurry form. They operate manufacturing equipment, perform quality control through measurements of pH and viscosity, create manufacturing records, and handle simple equipment inspections and cleaning. Much of the work takes place in high-temperature, high-humidity environments involving chemical handling, requiring strict adherence to work procedures and safety rules. Shift work under 2-shift or 3-shift systems is common.

Future Outlook

Amid advancing automation and IoT in chemical fiber manufacturing, traditional manual labor is on a decreasing trend. On the other hand, demand remains stable for personnel capable of handling advanced equipment management and quality control, and environmental compliance capabilities will be increasingly emphasized going forward.
