Classification

Summary

A profession that analyzes the chemical composition and physical properties of steel produced in the steelmaking process and manages quality.

Description

Product Analysts (Steelmaking) prepare and collect samples of steel and iron ore in the steelworks analysis lab, operate equipment such as OES (optical emission spectroscopy), XRF (X-ray fluorescence analysis), and ICP (inductively coupled plasma analysis) to quantitatively analyze chemical components. They also conduct physical tests such as tensile strength and hardness, and evaluate whether products meet specifications. Measurement data is registered in the quality management system, and in cases of non-conformity, root cause analysis and improvement proposals are performed. The work is mainly in the lab but involves collaboration with the production site to contribute to the optimization of the production process.

Future Outlook

With strengthening environmental regulations and increasing demand for high-quality steel, the demand for analysis technicians is expected to remain stable. Efficiency improvements are anticipated through integration with AI and automated data analysis.
