Description

Primer workers prepare the base surfaces of buildings' concrete, metal, and wood using high-pressure washing, wire brushing, grinding, putty treatment, etc., and then apply primer (sealer) with brushes, rollers, or spray guns to enhance adhesion for finish coatings. They also handle masking work, paint dilution and mixing, and drying time management. Much of the work involves high-altitude operations and scaffolding, requiring knowledge of safety and health management as well as scaffolding and elevated work vehicle operation skills.

Future Outlook

With the extension of building lifespans and increasing renovation demand, the importance of base treatment is growing, and demand remains stable. Succession of skills due to the aging of skilled workers is a challenge.
