Classification

Summary

A manufacturing job that recovers and refines precious metals such as gold, silver, and platinum from precious metal-containing ores or by-products, increases their purity, and turns them into products.

Description

Precious metal smelting workers melt precious metals such as gold, silver, and platinum contained in ores or industrial by-products in melting furnaces, and separate and recover them using methods such as chemical reactions and electrolytic refining. The obtained crude precious metals are purified to the specified purity by removing impurities through processes such as melting, precipitation, electrolysis, and smelting furnace operations. They are also responsible for quality inspections using spectroscopic analyzers and atomic absorption analyzers, equipment maintenance and inspection, and safety, health, and environmental management tasks. Since they work in high-temperature environments and handle chemicals, wearing safety equipment and strictly adhering to procedures is required.

Future Outlook

With the increasing functionality of electronic devices and growing recycling demand, precious metal recovery technology is advancing. While automation and labor reduction progress, the need for skilled technicians is expected to remain stable.
