Classification

Summary

Polymer chemistry engineers are technical professionals who perform synthesis, analysis, evaluation of polymer materials such as plastics, rubber, and fibers, and develop manufacturing processes.

Description

Polymer chemistry engineers are responsible for monomer selection and synthesis, design and optimization of polymer polymerization reactions, physical property evaluation and analysis of the obtained polymers, and scale-up of manufacturing processes. They conduct organic chemistry experiments in laboratories and physical property measurements using analytical instruments (DSC, TGA, NMR, FT-IR, GPC, etc.), and advance material modification or new polymer development based on test results. They also collaborate with other departments to achieve product development, quality control, and cost optimization while complying with safety, health, and environmental regulations.

Future Outlook

Demand for environmentally friendly plastics and biomass plastics is increasing, accelerating research and development of high-performance, high value-added materials. Needs for sustainable materials development are rising, and demand for specialized personnel will continue to increase.
