Classification

Summary

This occupation heats gypsum ore in a high-temperature calcining furnace (kiln) to dehydrate dihydrate gypsum into plaster of Paris (burnt gypsum). It handles the entire process from raw material crushing, calcination, pulverization, blending, particle size adjustment, to packaging.

Description

Plaster of Paris manufacturing workers crush mined gypsum ore to an appropriate size using crushers, then feed it into a kiln (calcining furnace) for high-temperature heating to produce plaster of Paris (hemihydrate gypsum) from dihydrate gypsum. The calcined gypsum is then pulverized again, adjusted for particle size, blended with other materials as needed, and finally packaged and shipped. The work requires strict control of furnace temperature and calcination time, adjustment of raw material ratios, machine inspection and maintenance, and safety management. Since the work is mainly in high-temperature and dusty environments, appropriate safety measures, physical stamina, and attention are essential.

Future Outlook

While demand for gypsum as a construction material will remain steady, the number of workers is expected to gradually decrease due to labor-saving and automation advancements. The need for skilled workers will continue due to the importance of technology transfer and safety management.
