Description

Plant Quarantine Inspectors, as employees of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries or prefectural governments, are responsible for inspection and monitoring duties based on the Plant Protection Act. They investigate imported plants, soil, packaging materials, etc., using microscopes and testing methods to check for the presence of pests and diseases. They grant permissions and impose regulations during domestic movement and import/export, and implement control measures as necessary. Furthermore, they conduct pest occurrence forecasting, research on control technologies, epidemiological surveys, and contribute to food security through guidance and extension activities to agricultural sites.
