Petroleum product production engineers design, operate, and maintain plant processes such as crude oil distillation, catalytic cracking, separation and purification, while complying with safety and environmental standards to maximize productivity. Specifically, they handle a wide range of tasks including process simulation for design, DCS-based control, catalyst selection and optimization of reaction conditions, equipment inspection and maintenance, quality analysis and improvement, safety risk assessment, cost management, and vendor negotiations.
