Description

Perlite manufacturing workers finely crush volcanic glass raw ore (perlite raw stone) using rollers or crushers and produce porous lightweight aggregate perlite by rapidly expanding it in a high-temperature furnace. After expansion, particle size is adjusted with sieving equipment, followed by quality inspections such as appearance checks and specific gravity measurements before shipment. Work sites involve high-temperature environments and dust generation, requiring the use of safety gear like dust masks and heat-resistant gloves, as well as simple equipment maintenance and cleaning. Production lines are operated by teams, often with shift work. Knowledge of safety and health management and process improvement is also required.
