Summary
Workers who cultivate Akoya oysters etc. on offshore rafts or aquaculture racks, handling tasks from nucleus insertion to pearl harvesting, cleaning, and quality inspection.
Description
Pearl cultivation workers handle the entire process of cultivating pearls using collected Akoya oysters. First, mother oysters are selected and prepared, the nucleus is inserted, and they are cultivated in the sea for a certain period. During the growth process, offshore rafts or aquaculture racks are installed and inspected, shells are cleaned, water quality and temperature are managed, and efforts are made for pest and disease control. After the cultivation period ends, pearl harvesting (pearl extraction), cleaning, grading, quality inspection are performed, and preparations for shipment are made. The work is mainly outdoor, influenced by weather and sea conditions, and may require small boat operation or diving.

Demand for high-quality pearls remains stable domestically and internationally, but challenges include competition from overseas production and adaptation to environmental changes.
