Outdoor scaffolders are specialists who assemble and dismantle temporary scaffolding used at architectural sites and civil engineering sites, assemble steel structures, and hoist materials. Much of the work involves heights, utilizing safety harnesses and ropework to perform tasks. They also conduct pre-work site checks, material preparation, safety equipment inspections, site process management, and coordination with other trades. Technical skills, physical strength, and teamwork are essential, and with accumulated experience, paths open to site supervisor or becoming an independent contractor.
