Description

Nucleic acid production engineers handle a series of manufacturing processes to mass-produce nucleic acid molecules, such as mRNA vaccines and RNA/DNA agents for gene therapy, with high quality and purity. In upstream processes, they optimize chemical synthesis and transcription reactions using enzymatic reactions. In downstream processes, they perform purification using chromatography and ultracentrifugation. They also conduct work in cleanrooms based on GMP standards, equipment validation, and quality testing (HPLC, mass spectrometry, electrophoresis, etc.). They are responsible for scaling up manufacturing, troubleshooting manufacturing processes, developing and improving production plans in collaboration with other departments, and enhancing the quality and efficiency of the overall process.
