Classification

Summary

Specialized profession that manufactures mirrors by polishing glass sheets and using coating technology to form a reflective film on the back surface.

Description

Mirror manufacturing workers cut and polish raw material glass sheets using dedicated machines, and create reflective surfaces by vapor-depositing and coating metal films such as aluminum on the back surface. In the polishing process, they enhance surface smoothness and transparency, and in the coating process, they ensure uniform film thickness and durability. Finally, they use inspection equipment to measure reflectivity and flatness, sort and correct defective products, and handle the process up to shipment. The work is basically line production, but for high-precision products, manual fine adjustments and post-processing are also performed.

Future Outlook

Although mirror manufacturing is a mature industry, with increasing demand for high-precision mirrors for automotive and architectural use, and smart mirrors incorporating IoT technology, the demand for personnel with advanced manufacturing skills is expected to remain stable.
