MAG Welder
まぐようせつこう
Industry & Occupation
Classification
Summary
MAG welders specialize in gas shielded arc welding, which melts and joins base metal using wire electrodes and arc heat under shielding gas. They are mainly engaged in the manufacturing and repair of structures and machine parts.
Description
MAG welders handle gas shielded arc welding for joining metal structures and machine parts, feeding wire electrodes automatically or manually under a protective atmosphere of CO2 or mixed gases to melt the base material with arc heat. They perform welding of sheet metal and thick plates at sites and factories, bead formation of weld joints, post-welding visual inspections and ultrasonic inspections. Adjustment of welding conditions (current, voltage, feed speed), quality control of weld joints, and use of safety protective equipment are required. They may also operate automatic welding machines or robot welders.
Future Outlook
While the introduction of robot welding is advancing due to developments in automation technology, the demand for skilled technicians capable of high-quality welding remains high. Stable demand is expected from equipment renewal in manufacturing and construction industries, as well as infrastructure development.
