Classification

Summary

A job that operates numerically controlled machine tools (CNC) to perform cutting machining of metal parts. Responsible for setup, machining, measurement, and quality inspection based on drawings.

Description

MC machinists use numerically controlled machine tools such as machining centers and NC lathes to perform cutting machining of metal parts. They input programs created with CAD/CAM software into the machine, attach tools and workpieces, and set machining conditions (spindle speed and feed rate). After machining, they measure dimensions with micrometers and calipers to check tolerances. They also handle setup changes, tool changes, machine troubleshooting, and simple maintenance inspections, and are required to maintain high precision and productivity.

Future Outlook

Amid the automation and advancement of manufacturing, the demand for skilled CNC machining technicians remains stable. Acquiring high-precision machining skills through the introduction of IoT and 5-axis machining will enhance market value.
