Classification

Summary

A manufacturing technician who precisely bonds optical lenses to assemble multi-layer lens units. Handles everything from bonding process preparation to curing and inspection.

Description

Lens bonding technicians are specialized technicians who manufacture multi-layer and composite lenses used in cameras, microscopes, telescopes, etc. Work is performed in a clean room, first cleaning and drying lens surfaces to prevent foreign matter contamination. Next, lenses are aligned using dedicated stages or fine-adjustment jigs and bonded with methods such as optical adhesives, thermal fusion, or UV-curing adhesives. After securing the bonding surfaces with curing equipment (UV irradiation devices, heating furnaces), optical and dimensional inspections are conducted using interferometers or micrometers to verify that focal length, surface accuracy, etc., conform to design specifications. Requires advanced manual dexterity and precision measurement knowledge, active across production lines to prototype development.

Future Outlook

With the advancement and miniaturization of optical devices, demand for high-precision lens bonding technology is increasing. Automation lines and new bonding technologies are being introduced, requiring skills in process improvement and equipment maintenance.
