Classification

Summary

Specialist who detects leaks in water pipes and building plumbing using various non-destructive testing equipment, conducts investigations, and prepares reports.

Description

Leak investigators identify leak locations in water pipes and plumbing systems within buildings by handling on-site surveys, measurements, analysis, and reporting. At investigation sites, they inspect ground surfaces, under floors, behind ceilings, etc., using acoustic inspection devices, infrared thermography, gas injection leak detection devices, ground penetrating radar (GPR), and other tools to detect the presence and location of leaks. They analyze measurement data, compare it with drawings, and select the optimal inspection method. After identification, they hand over information to repair teams and create detailed reports. Work involves indoor and outdoor tasks, equipment transport and setup, emergency responses, requiring physical stamina and attention.

Future Outlook

With the increasing importance of updating aging water supply and sewage pipes and leak prevention measures, demand is stable or increasing. Technological innovations are also expected from the perspectives of energy and resource conservation.
