Description
Lead plate plating workers apply lead plating to steel plates and various metal parts using chemical or electrolytic methods. The work consists of processes such as pretreatment (degreasing, pickling), immersion in plating bath or applying electricity, management of solution concentration, temperature, pH, film thickness measurement, post-treatment (washing, drying, finishing polishing). To maintain plating quality, bath management and component analysis are performed, and quality inspections based on JIS standards are conducted. Much of the work involves chemicals and dust, so safety and hygiene management is important.
Future Outlook
Due to environmental regulations, demand for lead plating is on a decreasing trend. On the other hand, as technologies for reducing environmental impact and development of alternative materials advance, demand for technicians with such knowledge is expected to increase in the future.
