Classification

Summary

A manufacturing technician who assembles and installs aircraft landing gear (landing gear), performs adjustments and inspections.

Description

Aircraft Landing Gear Installers assemble major components of aircraft landing gear (landing gear) according to drawings and procedures, and install them on the airframe. They perform bolt fastening using torque wrenches and alignment adjustments with precision measuring instruments, and confirm that the device operates and meets precision standards through functional tests and visual inspections. They use dedicated jigs and fixtures for the work, collaborate with quality control and design departments, and investigate causes and implement countermeasures when issues arise. Work sites are in factories or hangars within aircraft assembly plants, and may include handling parts using forklifts or cranes. Due to prolonged standing work and handling of heavy objects, physical stamina and safety awareness are required, along with strict adherence to manuals and accuracy.

Future Outlook

With increasing demand in the aircraft industry, the demand for high-precision assembly technicians will remain stable. Due to advances in automation and robotization, simple tasks will decrease, and there will be a trend toward requiring advanced skills specialized in manual adjustments and inspections.
