Classification

Summary

Bridge crane operators operate bridge cranes installed in factories and warehouses to safely and efficiently move cargo.

Description

Bridge crane operators are responsible for operating overhead bridge cranes installed on ceilings, using hooks or slings to lift cargo and move it to designated locations. Before work, they inspect the crane, check the load weight, confirm the operation of safety devices, and operate in coordination with signalers. They accurately judge the weight and position of the cargo and move the crane forward/backward, left/right, and up/down using lever controls. Additionally, as part of daily maintenance, they perform lubrication and inspect parts for wear, promptly reporting and addressing any abnormalities. They contribute to safety management, improved work efficiency, quality control, and team operations.

Future Outlook

While a shortage of skilled workers due to aging is a challenge, it is expected that remote operation and preventive maintenance will advance with the introduction of automation and IoT technologies.
