Description
Septic tank maintenance and inspection workers regularly visit septic tanks installed in homes and businesses to measure water quality, dewater and discharge sludge, and clean and adjust pumps and aeration devices. Based on legally mandated inspection items, they measure management values such as pH, BOD, and COD, and if abnormalities are found, they report and arrange repairs. They also create logbooks and reports and submit them to septic tank managers and clients. Much of the work is outdoors or in confined spaces, requiring basic mechanical knowledge and safety and hygiene awareness.
Future Outlook
Demand is stable due to the continuation of legal inspection obligations. Labor shortage is an issue due to aging population. Efficiency improvements through mechanization and ICT are expected.
