Summary

Technical role that uses the Finite Element Method (FEM) to evaluate the strength and durability of automotive parts and body structures, and provides design support.

Description

Automotive FEM analysis engineers are responsible for modeling, mesh generation, boundary condition setup, analysis execution, and result evaluation/reporting using the finite element method for durability and strength analysis of automotive parts and body structures. This includes model design reflecting material properties and load conditions, visualization of simulation results, design improvement proposals in collaboration with design and testing departments, and automation/efficiency improvements in analysis processes. They mainly use CAE software such as ANSYS, Abaqus, and LS-DYNA, and perform business automation using high-performance computing environments and scripts. There is an increasing number of cases applying the latest methods and AI technologies in various analysis areas such as lightweighting, safety performance improvement, and NVH analysis.

Future Outlook

With the progression of EV adoption and autonomous driving technologies, demand for analysis in lightweighting and safety performance improvement is on an expanding trend. Advanced analysis skills integrated with AI and data science are in demand.
