Description

The First Class Engineer oversees the operation management, maintenance and inspection, fault diagnosis and repair of a ship's main engines and auxiliary machinery. They control the output of the main engine, manage fuel and lubricating oil, monitor the condition of equipment such as lubrication systems, cooling devices, boilers, and turbines, and respond promptly to abnormalities. They attend regular inspections and statutory checks, formulate and manage maintenance plans, instruct engine department crew, and collaborate with the captain and navigators to support safe ship operations. Compliance with relevant laws and international regulations (SOLAS, etc.) is also an important role.
