Summary

This occupation is responsible for operating and managing the separation and purification process using ion exchange resin for the purpose of decolorization and desalination of sugar solution in the sugar manufacturing process.

Description

Ion exchange workers (sugar manufacturing) are responsible for operating and managing the process of removing calcium ions and other impurities from sugar juice, and performing decolorization and desalination at sugar refineries. They continuously produce sugar raw materials that meet quality standards by passing sugar solution through ion exchange towers and regenerating the resin that has captured impurities with chemicals. In addition to equipment setup, monitoring of flow rates, pressure, and temperature, they also perform resin replacement work, regeneration chemical injection, and waste liquid treatment. They conduct quality management based on measurement results of pH and sugar content using analytical instruments, and perform data recording and reporting. Duties also include regular inspections, initial response to troubles, and consideration and improvement proposals for effective operating conditions.

Future Outlook

With increasing demand for health-oriented products and higher quality, attention to ion exchange technology in sugar refining is growing, and with the development and introduction of automation and labor-saving technologies, the demand for process engineers and operators is expected to increase steadily in the future.
