Instrument Fitter (Optical Machinery) accurately assembles precision parts such as lenses, prisms, and mechanical frames that constitute optical machinery devices like microscopes, telescopes, spectrometers, as well as measuring instruments, using torque wrenches and drivers to fasten at specified torques. After assembly, dimensions and optical properties are inspected using micrometers, calipers, and three-dimensional measuring machines, with fine adjustments made as necessary. Work is performed in clean rooms or temperature- and humidity-controlled environments, requiring the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
