Classification

Summary

Technical job responsible for the manufacturing processes of casting, where metal is heated, melted, and poured into molds to form shapes, and forging, where pressure is applied to heated metal to shape it.

Description

Casting and forging workers are responsible for the casting process, where metal materials are heated and melted, then poured into sand or metal molds to produce castings, and the forging process, where heated metal is hammered or pressed with hammers or presses to adjust strength and shape. Tasks include material blending, furnace operation, mold making with refractories, riser design, pouring, cooling, shakeout, finishing processes, furnace temperature control, hammer and press operation, etc. Safety and hygiene management and quality inspection are also required. Since handling high-temperature and high-pressure equipment is involved, safety awareness and precise operation are essential.

Future Outlook

While production efficiency improves with advancing automation and robotization, skilled workers are needed for manufacturing high-precision, high-value-added parts, and a certain level of demand is expected to continue.
