Industry & Occupation
Classification
Summary
Casting manufacturing equipment operators heat and melt metal in a melting furnace and perform the casting process of pouring it into molds automatically or semi-automatically as a manufacturing job.
Description
In the casting process, scrap or melting metal is first charged into the melting furnace and heated and melted to the specified temperature. While maintaining the appropriate temperature and atmosphere, pouring into the mold is performed, and after cooling, the product is removed. After deburring or shot blasting for surface treatment and dimensional inspection using inspection jigs, a shippable product is completed. Daily equipment inspections and maintenance, initial response to troubles, and safety and health management are also important tasks.
Future Outlook
While automation and robotization advance, leading to labor reduction, advanced equipment operation and programming skills will be required, so stable demand is expected through skill improvement.
