Classification

Summary

HVAC equipment pipefitters are specialized construction workers who install, connect, insulate, and test refrigerant pipes and drain pipes used in building heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.

Description

HVAC equipment pipefitters handle the piping work required for air conditioning systems in buildings and residences. Based on design drawings, they cut copper and resin pipes and connect them via flare processing, crimping, and welding. After piping, they install insulation materials and verify no leaks through airtightness tests and pressure tests. In addition to new installations, they also engage in renovations, repairs, periodic inspections, and maintenance of existing piping, requiring safety management, quality control, and coordination and collaboration with other trades.

Future Outlook

Due to energy conservation in buildings and the need to update air conditioning equipment, demand for piping technicians will remain stable and increase going forward. Acquiring advanced piping construction skills will boost market value with the adoption of IoT air conditioning and energy-saving technologies.
